Get ready to have the best skin of your life! Here are my top tips for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and they’re so easy you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner!
First things first, let’s talk hydration. Our bodies need water to function properly and our skin is no exception. So, I make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep my skin plump and hydrated. But wait, there’s more!
And here is where the diatomaceous earth comes in. Every day, in a small cup filled with some water, I add a scoop of electrolytes and a tablespoon of food-grade diatomaceous earth to it, blend it up, and swig it down. The best part is diatomaceous earth is very cheap, too! Bonus! Household tip: It is also a great product in ridding your home of bugs!
Why diatomaceous earth you may ask? Well, it is a trendy health and beauty product abroad, and it is a game-changer for your hair, skin, and nails. Silica, a major component of collagen, is crucial for maintaining healthy skin. When we lack silica, collagen breaks down faster, leading to dull and aged-looking skin. Incorporating silica into our routine can revive and strengthen our collagen.
Additionally, silica can help with various skin issues such as eczema, rashes, acne, warts, burns, and insect bites—While this other blog post of mine doesn’t cover diatomaceous earth, it offers a valuable solution for those who suffer from severe acne and perioral dermatitis. A consistent silica regimen can leave you with glowing and healthy skin.
It’s like a spa day for my insides!
Also, less caffeine is your friend. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “But what about my beloved coffee?!” Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to give it up completely. However, I have found that minimizing my caffeine intake and replacing it with water has made a big difference in my skin’s appearance. Plus, with all the extra hydration, my skin is glowing like never before! So, next time you reach for that second or third cup of coffee, try reaching for a glass of water instead. Your skin will thank you!
Improved diet is also completely essential in the health of one’s body and the appearance of their skin! I have made many improvements to my diet over the course of last year, but I have only JUST started adding DE (diatomaceous earth) into my daily routine.
So now that we’ve briefly covered hydration and a healthy diet, let’s get into my skincare regimen. I’ve discovered a few products that work wonders together! First up is the Purito Galacto Niacin Power Essence – just a couple of squirts of this magic potion (less is more!) and my face instantly feels refreshed and nourished. And then, I add a few more squirts of snail mucin by COSRX to really amp up the hydration factor. I know, I know – snail mucin sounds a little strange, but trust me, it’s a game-changer. And to top it all off, I add a very small dollop of my homemade body butter, which is like a little slice of heaven for my skin. With these three products combined, my face feels like it’s been given a new lease on life!
In addition to the above, I’ve been getting my exercise in with some unconventional methods – gua sha face tools and some good old fashioned gentle massages using my hands. I’m not just sticking to my face, though! I’m also giving my scalp some love and working on loosening up any tightness in the fascia up there. It’s not just a relaxing practice, it also helps to increase circulation and stimulate collagen production, which is essential for healthy, glowing skin. Plus, who doesn’t love a good scalp massage? It’s like a mini vacation for your brain! This massaging has helped loosen up the fascia and get those good vibes flowing. Who knew a little TLC could go such a long way in keeping those fine lines and wrinkles at bay?
Every other week or so I also use a dermaroller on my face. This is a pretty good one!
I’ve also become much more mindful of my facial expressions. No more furrowing my brow or making unnecessary faces, unless absolutely necessary. Secondly, I’ve been paying close attention to my sleeping habits. I’m a side sleeper, so I’m making an effort to avoid squishing my face into my pillow, creating those pesky eleven lines. Another thing to consider is changing your pillowcase to be better for your face too. From what I understand, silk pillowcases are probably your best bet, but right now I use satin pillowcases and I believe they are helping for both my face as well as my hair! So it’s a win-win!
That concludes my anti-wrinkle routine!
So in my estimation, yes, diatomaceous earth DOES help with reducing wrinkles and fine lines since it helps with collagen! I have noticed my skin is more supple, firmer, and it simply feels much better. My mom has also mentioned the lines in my forehead are far less than they were!
I hope you find these tips helpful and can incorporate them into your own skincare routine for smooth and youthful-looking skin! Let me know if you try this and how your experience goes!
Best,
Mariah
